Businesswoman. PTA President. Community activist. Mother. Like so many of today's working women, Optimum Founder, Christie Brown, wears many hats.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Marketing, Christie and her husband Alan founded Photonics Graphics (www.photonicsgraphics.com), a multimedia design studio specializing in educational software, graphic design, and Web site development.
In 1996, as her son was preparing for Ohio's fourth grade proficiency test, Christie recognized that there was a need for state-specific test preparation software. She created Optimum and worked with fourth grade Ohio teachers to develop the first CD-ROM that debuted in 1997 as a practice tool for the Ohio Proficiency Test. To date thousands of Ohio schools, parents and teachers have used Optimum and based on this positive response, Illinois and New Jersey versions were added in 2001.
